Salmon & Steelhead fishing is really starting to take off. Boat have been spread out from 90' of water to 500' and catching fish.
Early morning action has been very good both inside , in the 90' to 150' and outside depths 150' plus. Early morning action at sunrise has produced some real nice sized kings on a variety of flash/fly combos and also on spoons. My best has been chrome and aqua frog combo on a leadcore on a bird and on 10 oz. White/aqua-frog and white/frog combos have also taken some fish.
I have also been running some new R & R Razor spoons and doing very well on them. Monkey puke has taken some nice kings like the one shown run on the downrigger 65' to 85' down. I also have a steelhead favorite, it is the Razor Fire Engine red with gold ice cup run on "high birds". Yesterday they accounted for 75% of my high bird steelhead bites. A few lake trout have been caught also. Steelhead action has really picked up and many anglers were chasing thermoclines and breaklines in 300' to 450' of water and finding some pretty fast action on the steelhead and a few cohos.
Now that the season and the boat launches are getting busier, and the boats are going out further for steelhead, keep in mind that the larger charter boats have a larger crew and are running many lines. Give every boat plenty of distance and stay clear of their boards to avoid conflicts. From Capt. Lee and the crew aboard the Grand Illusion 2, Good Luck and Good Fishing!
